Clarence Walter KOFOED, 75, of Clear Lake, IA, died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at the Good Shepherd Care Facility, Mason City, IA. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 10:30 am at Ward-Van-Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, IA. The Rev. Kermit ROLSEN will be officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Clarence was born May 12, 1925, at his home in Thornton, IA, the son of Thor and Alma (JOHANSEN) KOFOED. He graduated from Clear Lake High School. Clarence worked for Dusenberg Road Construction, owned his own filling station; and worked for Zeidlers Concrete Plant.

Clarence married Norma ROWE February 4, 1961 in the Lutheran Chapel, Story City, IA with the Rev. STRUM officiating, who had been their minister at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, but had relocated to Story City. They made their home in Clear Lake.

Clarence retired in 1990. Children, his home, family and friendships were important to him. He enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, cooking and baking at Christmas time.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Norma Jean, Clear Lake; three daughters, Elida MORSE and her husband Pat, Clear Lake, Patsy BROERS and her husband Wayne, Harrison, Ark., and Sharon BUCK, Albany, GA; four sons, Todd KOFOED, Clear Lake, Jerry MAY, Alphoretta (sic), GA, Roger MAY, Estherville, IA, and Gary MAY, Clear Lake; nine grandchildren, David BROERS and his wife Lynn, Lisa BUEHLER and her husband Andy, Kevin BROERS, Nathan MAY, Amanda MAY, Earl MAY, Barbie MAY, Melissa MORSE and Ryan MORSE; four great-grandchildren Adam and Sarah BUEHLER and Madison and Parker BROERS; one sister, Clara PETERSON, Mason City.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Louis KOFOED; and one sister Lillie HENRICKSEN.
