Mildred M. SORENSON, 85, of Crystal Lake, passed away Thurs., May 25, 2000, at Westview Care Center in Britt. Funeral services were held Sat., May 27 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in CrystalLake with Pastor Gary MARZOLF officiating. Music was provided by organist Tammy JOHNSON accompanying soloist Pastor Gary MARZOLF in "In The Garden" and "On Eagle's Wings" and congregrational hymns of "Rock of Ages" and "How Great Thou Art." Honorary casket bearers were Lori HANNA, Carol TIEG, Lisa SWINGEN, Michael BROWN, John HOHORT, Tammy JOHNSON, Tracey PORTWOOD, Angela DAHLE, Sue DICKEY and Mary Beth BARNUM. Casket bearers were David DAHLE, Shawn DAHLE, Scott JOHNSON, Brian DAHLE, Paul BARNUM and Douglas SWINGEN. Interment was at Crystal Lake Cemetery.

Mildred, the daughter of Warren and Viva WOLFE KING, was born Sept. 15, 1914, at Clear Lake. She was raised in the Clear Lake area and received her formal education in the Clear Lake public schools.

Mildred was united in marriage with Edmund SORENSON on Nov. 27, 1935, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home on a farm in CrystalLake until moving into Crystal Lake in 1947. The couple retired from farming in 1963. Following Edmund's death in 1963, Mildred was employed for a short time at Winnebago Industries and later Ben Franklin and Swenson's Hardware.

Mildred enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed basketball games and watching television.

Mildred was a member of the United Methodist Church in Crstal Lake and United Methodist Women. She was an active member of the Crystal lake Senior Citizens where often she made coffee and cleaned. She was a member of the Birthday Club and Senior Citizens Kitchen Band. She enjoyed playing cards and pool at the Senior Citizens Center.

Mildred is survived by five daughters, Doryce HANNA and her husband, Bruce, of Woden; Dorothy BROWN and her husband, Garry, of Corwith; Paulette DAHLE and her husband, Ronald, of Woden; Elizabeth BARNUM and her husband, Edward, of Blaine, Minn.; Lois OTIS of Forest City; a son, Kenneth SORENSON and his wife, Leona, of Crystal Lake; daughters-in-law Wilma SORENSON of Winthrop, ME.; Genevieve SORENSON of Forest City; and Marjorie SORENSON of Britt; sons-in-law LaVern HOLTOFT and his wife, Jane, of Ankeny and Herbert SCHUBERT of Garner; 39 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Irene GRAHAM of Manly, sister-in-law Vernice KING of Bristow, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund [October 10, 1963]; two daughters, Marvilla HOLTORLAND, Ruth SCHUBERT; four sons, Harlan, Calvin, Russell and Morris; granddaughter, Trena; great-grandson, Jeffrey; two daughters-in-law, Mavis and Jerry; brother, George; two sisters, Violet and Grace.
