October, 1950Mrs. J. Potter Dies in Hospital Services to Be on Saturday Morning
Mrs. John F. POTTER, 59, nee Sophie Henrietta GROSS, 1413 Wilson S.W., died at a local hospital 2:30 a.m. Thursday [October 19, 1950], following an illness of a month.
Mrs. POTTER was born June 15, 1891, at Baltimore, Md. She was married to John F. POTTER Aug. 10, 1921, at Baltimore, and they came to Mason City in 1923.
She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, the Women's Relief Corps. the D.A.V. Auxiliary, the Christian Workers and Help-a-Lot Club.
Surviving are her husband, her father, George F. GROSS, Frederick, Md.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Emma RICE, Baltimore; Mrs. Charles PURCELL, Fairfax, Va.; and Miss Caroline GROSS, Baltimore; and 3 brothers, John F. GROSS, Boston; John J. GROSS, Frederick, Md.; and Joshua GROSS, Baltimore.
She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the McAuley and Son chapel, with the Rev. William RICKETTS, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery. The McAuley and Son funeral home in charge.

Memorial services for Mrs. John F. [Sophia Henrietta (GROSS)] POTTER, 59, who died Thursday [October 19, 1950] following an illness, will be held at the McAuley and Son chapel Friday at 8 p.m. by the Women's Relief Corps and the Royal Neighbors.
Mrs. E. W. LILLEY, president of the Women's Relief Corsp, Mrs. Augusta WARNER, senior vice president, Mrs. Emma DUNCAN, patriotic instructor, and Mrs. Glenn WALLACE, chaplain of the Women's Relief Corps, and Mrs. H. L. LEAKE of the Royal Neighbors, will be in charge.
