Earl G. POTTER, 65, retired mill operator of the Northwestern States Portland Cement Company, died Saturday [December 26, 1965] in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Des Moines. He had lived in Mason City 43 years and had been making his home at 1627 N. President.
Mr. POTTER was born Jan. 18, 1900, at Leland. After farming for a time, he was employed by the M. & St.L. Railroad.
He was married to Alvira Celia SMITH, April 26, 1919, at Forest City. They moved to Mason City in 1922. He was employed by serveral industries here before joining Northwestern States Portland Cement Compnay. He retired from the plant in 1958.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Patterson-James Funeral Home is in charge. Visitation at the chapel will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The funeral for Earl Glen POTTER, 65, who died Sunday in the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Patterson-James Chapel in Mason City. The Rev. J. Lowell DeGARMO, pastor of the Wesley Methodist Church will officiate.
Mr. POTTER, a retired employee of Northwestern States Portland Cement Company, made his home at 1627 N. President. He was born Jan. 18, 1900, at Leland, son of Clayton and Alice POTTER. He was married to Alvira SMITH, April 26, 1919, at Forest City.
He was a member of the American Legion Clausen-Worden Post 101, the Veterans of World War I Barracks 1661, and the Wesley Methodist Church.
Suviving are his wife, a son, George W. POTTER, Mason City; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Evelyn) AHLS, Chicago, and Mrs. Wayne (lila) EIGENHEER, Minneapolis, Minn., 12 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and a sister, Mrs. George (Elsie) JOHNSON, Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by three sons, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
Military rites will be conducted at Memorial Park Cemetery by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.
Pallbearers selected are Edward WARNER, William MAXWELL (Sr.), Walter HOVELAND and Benjamin VIERKANT. Mrs. Wallace ALLEN will be the organist. Friends may call at the chapel until the time of services.
