A. N. Anderson Died Friday
After a Lingerin (sic) Illness
Funeral held Sunday at the Home;
Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery

A. N. ANDERSON, after a lingering illness of over one year, passed away Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

The body lay in state Sunday at the residence from 12 to 2 o'clock. The funeral services were held at the home, Division street, Sunday afternoon at 2:30. A Christian Science service was held, Mrs. ZINGRE of Mason City, officiating. Interment was made at the Memorial park cemetery.

Mr. ANDERSON was born in 1877 [in Sweden, the son of Charles and Christinia (PETERSON) ANDERSON], and grew to young manhood at Monona, Iowa. In 1891 he began working for the railroad at Monona, and served at many places, including Garner for eleven years, and Clear Lake sixteen years.

Mr. ANDERSON was an enthusiastic worker in the Masonic lodge. His honors there were many, having held practically ever office in the order. He had the very high honor of confering 1092 Masonic degrees covering a period of many years. He also served four years as Shepherd of the White Throne of Jerusalem at Mason City, patron of the local Eastern Star for four years, and high priest of both Garner and Clear lake Chapters of the Royal Arch Masons>

Mr. ANDERSON was also interested in civi affairs, having held the office of mayor and president of the commercial club, and in both positions gave splendid service.

As a member of the Lions club, he took a very active part, serving for four years as president of the local club, and was also district governor, resigning the latter office because of failing health.

Mr. ANDERSON is survived by his wife [Maude (CULVER)] and son Carl, one grandson James, all of Clear Lake, two sisters Mrs. A. L. KIRBY, Bayside, and Mrs. Fred ELLENHOLL of Bridgeport, Wis.

A. N. Anderson Elected Mayor

Anton "Tony" A.N. ANDERSON, the head of the Milwaukee Road Depot, was elected Mayor of Clear Lake, Iowa [in March 1928]. He defeated a Mr. CLAUSEN by a margin of 795 to 631.

Mr. ANDERSON is very a very capable businessman and a man of splendid judgement. He stands for a clean city and has publicly promised to hire men as police officers who will make an honest effort to keep our city clean. That is what we are all interest in and all hope this will be accomplished.
