CLEAR LAKE — George Knopf Sr., 71, 907 1st Ave N, Clear Lake, died Sunday (May 26, 1985) at a Mason City hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N 4th St, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Keith L. Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be at the Concord Cemetery, Garner.
George Knopf was born May 3, 1914, at Renwick, Iowa, the son of Julius and Agusta Knopf. He was married to Edna E. Hoeft Nov. 2, 1935, at LuVern, Iowa.
He was a 1931 graduate of LuVern High School and farmed in the LuVern and Ventura areas for many years. He was a resident of Clear Lake for approximately the last 22 years, and was employed by the City of Clear Lake for several years. Mr. Knopf was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N 4th, Clear Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; four daughters, Mrs. Gary (Arlene) Jass of Mason City, Mrs. Ellery (Darlene) Wood of Garner, Mrs., Chet (Delores) Garth of Clear Lake, and Doris Ann Knopf of Clear Lake; one son, George (Butch) Knopf Jr. of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Henry (Freda) Zweifel of Algona; one brother, William of Ft. Dodge; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
