MASON CITY — Memorial-services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 2nd SE, Mason City, for Martha Dorothea Petersen, 91,who died Thursday (May 23. 1985) at a Mason City nursing home.
She lived at 1712 N. Delaware.
The Rev. Landis Olson will officiate. The body was cremated.
The family requests memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City.
The former Martha Paulsen was born May 25, 1893 in Fehmarn, Germany, to Frederick and Dorothy (Jappe) Paulsen. She came to the United States with her family in 1907,settling in southeastern Iowa.
In 1912, she married Martin S. Petersen in Grand Mound. They settled in North Iowa were they farmed in Worth County. In 1941 they moved to Mason City.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters. Mrs. George (Ruth) Hansen, Bolan, and Mrs. Don (Phyllis) Pearson, Adel; a son, Martin E. Petersen, San Diego, one brother, Frederick Paulsen, Kensett; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
