MASON CITY — Lance Czar Beenken, 19, of 815 10th St. N.E., died Wednesday morning (Oct. 14, 1998) following an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. David Shogren officiating. Following the services, the body will be cremated.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Lance C. Beenken Memorial Fund.

Lance was born Sept. 11, 1979 in Mason City, the son of Gary and Irene (Hansen) Beenken.

Lance attended schools in Hawaii and California before his family returned to Mason City in 1989. Lance graduated from Mason City High School in 1998.

He was currently employed by Benningan’s Restaurant in Clear Lake.

Lance enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, listening to music and spending time with his friends.

He had a love and respect for outdoors and enjoyed star gazing (astrology).

Lance is survived by his parents, Gary and Irene Beenken, of Mason City; one brother, James Beenken, of Ogden, Utah; maternal grandmother, Martha Hansen, of Mason City; paternal grandmother, Charlene Beenken, of Charles City; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lance was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Wesley "Wes" Beenken and Henry Hansen.
