Bessie Ficken

ROCKWELL- Bessie Ficken, 86, of Rockwell, died Wednesday (July 4, 1990) at her daughter's home in Rockwell.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rockwell, with the Rev. Perry Heller officiating. Burial will be in Rockwell Cemetery.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Mrs. Ficken was born April 11, 1904, in Cisco, Ill., to Charles and Grace (Wright) King. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1922 and then went on to nurse's training at Kahler School of Nursing, Rochester, Minn.

On Oct. 12, 1926, she married William L. Ficken at the Lutheran Church in Carroll. She had been a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rockwell, since 1929. She also was a member of the church's Martha Circle, the Rockwell Cemetery Society and Rockwell Senior Citizens.

She was employed as a nurse at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Mason City, for 15 years, retiring in 1966.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Woodrow (Ruth) Bergman, Rockwell; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Ficken; her parents; one daughter; one son; one sister; one brother; and three grandchildren
