MASON CITY- Adalaide "Addie" Newton, 76, of 114 Sunny Circle, died Saturday (Sept. 21, 1991) at home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave. The Rev. Merlin J. Ackerson, and the Rev. Jerry Oakland will be officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 209 Second St. N.E., and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Addie Newton memorial fund.

Adalaide Newton was born Sept. 5, 1915, at Vinton, a daughter of Merton and Amanda (Woods) Allen. She graduated from Auburn High School. She married Walter D. Newton April 3, 1939, in Missouri. They moved to Mason City in 1960. She worked for Hawkeye Bank, which is now Liberty Bank and Trust, for 25 years before retiring in 1985.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the church circle.

Survivors include one brother, Frank Allen, LaPorte City; two sisters, Rachel Newton, White City, Ore., and Lola Burkey, Vinton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
