DOUGHERTY- Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty, for Andrew N. Marzen, 87, of Dougherty, who died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 1989) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home, Rockwell, of natural causes.
The Rev. Linus Rasing will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church School, where a scripture wake service will be held at 7:30 this evening.
The Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Marzen was born Dec. 22, 1901 in Roseville, to John and Kathryn Ann (Shaney) Marzen. He married Louise Schumacher July 28, 1926 in New Hartford.
The couple farmed in the Dougherty area for 41 years. Mr. Marzen was also a Pioneer seed corn salesman for several years and a custodian at St. Patrick's Church and cemetery for many years.
He served as parish trustee at St. Patrick's Church and was a director at the Farmer's Co-op, Dougherty. He helped organize and plan the Rockwell Community Nursing Home and had served on the nursing home board. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, Rockwell; three sons, Bernard and Leo, both of Doughery, and Gerald, Marble Rock, 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons.
