Walter McGee
ROCKWELL- Walter F. McGee, 84, of Rockwell, formerly of Dougherty, died Friday (July 15, 1988) at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell. The Rev. Linus Rasing will officate, with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Dougherty. Military rites will be conducted by Gallagher American Legion Post No. 208 of Rockwell.
Mr. McGee was born Dec. 17, 1903, in Floyd County to Michael and Margaret (Mullin) McGee. He attended St. Patrick's School at Doughery. He served in the military during World War II and was stationed in Iceland.
For serveral years he was employed by the Franklin County Road Department and later farmed in the Doughery area until retiring in 1963. He had lived in Rockwwll since 1985.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell, Gallagher American Legion Post No. 208 at Rockwell. V.F.W. Post 733 in Mason City and Disabled American Veterans.
Vistation begins after 4 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. A scripture rosary will be said at 7 o'clock tonight at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sisters, Donna Coyle, Mason City, and Mary Ellen Doland, Rockwell, four nephews; five great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
