Charles Mullan, 73,
Pioneer Printer,
Dies in Hospital

Charles Mullan, 73, pioneer printer of Mason City, died at a local hospital at 12:45 noon Friday following a long illness.

For many years he was makeup man at the Mason City Globe-Gazette until retired recently.

A native of Mason City, Mr. Mullan gained most of his experience in the town of his birth.
He was awarded the 40 year button of the International Typographical union No. 406 of Mason City, October 7, 1942. He had been working at the printers trade a number of years before entering the union, having started at the age of 17. Nearly all of his time as a union printer had been spent at the Globe-Gazette.

Other newspapers he had been employed by in Mason City were the Times, Cerro Gordo Republican and the Farmers Institute.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. L. S. Anderson,- Chicago, and Katherine at home; and three sons, Father Maurice, Forest City; Pete of Mason City, and Frank of Clear Lake,

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Colonial Funeral Home is in charge.
