Warner Jabez Brown

Monday morning at 3:40 am occurred the death of Warner Jabez Brown, third and youngest son of Henry L and Harriott L. Brown.

Mr Brown was one of the first white children born in Cerro Gordo county. He was born Aug 15, 1857,3 1/2 miles northwest of Mason City on what used to be called the Deacon Dunham farm in Lime Creek township. His age at death was 70 years.

He was married Oct 7 1879, in Lime Creek township to Miss Hattie R. Case. He engaged in farming for some time, later purchasing a farm adjoining Mrs Brown's father's farm. Tiring of farm life, he moved to Clear Lake, trading his farm for Clear Lake property. For about 30 years, he had been an insurance solictor, the last 12 years for the Mystic Workers, of which lodge he was the organizer, lodge No. 1300.

Mr. Brown had been in failing health since July and gradually because worse and took to his bed in Oct 20.

He leaves, besides his wife, his two oldest brothers, Hiram E. Brown of Mason City and Albert G. of Oregon; his daughter Mrs O.S. Durr and son De Witt C. Brown, Fort Dodge; Frank L., Harry E., and Lewis L.of Mason City.

The Rev. C.D. James of the Olivet Methodist church conducted the funeral services.

The Rev. and Mrs. Hebert L. Case, Manikato, Minn., brother of Mrs. Brown, Mrs C. B. Seabury and aunt, and Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Dawson were among the out of town relatives at the funerals.
