JUSTIN ADRIAN ‘JAY’ NEWBURG
IOWA FALLS — Justin Adrian “Jay” Newburg died Saturday (Feb. 7, 2004) at his home in Iowa Falls.
Memorial services will be held for Mr. Newburg at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 E. State St. in Mason City, and 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. Burial will be at a later date.
Linn’s Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be sent in Jay’s name to the Security State Bank, 207 Isabella, Radcliffe, IA 50230. The family is establishing a college scholarship and Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp fund.
People may also send memorials to their favorite charity or church.
Justin was born Oct. 17, 1945, at Mason City. The son of Melford S. “Sam” Newburg and Dorothy E. Matson Newburg.
He was married to Ann Budolfson on April 5, 1992, in Iowa Falls. Jay was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and St. Matthew’s -by-the-Bridge Episcopal Church in Iowa Falls.
Jay graduated from Mason City High School in 1964. He attended Mason City Junior College (NIACC) and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1970 with a M.A. in speech language pathology.
Jay was Technology Coordinator at Hubbard-Radcliffe where he taught 6th grade technology classes and directed the high school plays and musicals. Mr. Newburg was President of the Hubbard-Radcliffe Education Association.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Budolfson Newburg; his mother, Dorothy Newburg, of Mason City; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Budolfson, of Ames; brother-in-law, Art Budolfson, and his wife, Marilyn; nieces, Angella and Katherine Budolfson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his aunts, Millie Matson of Mason City, and Ellen Bauer of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; his cousins and their families, Vera and Chuck Walk, Dick and Bonna Matson, Ray and Dorothy Matson of Mason City, Arvid and Dixie Matson, John and Linda Matson of Clear Lake, Evelyn and Dick Davis of Altoona, Kevin and Gwenyth Bauer of Cambridge, Minn., Sharon and Bob MacDonald of Nampa, Idaho, Dr. Robert and Iris Givler of Belton, Mo.; and many special loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melford S. “Sam” Newburg; his grandparents, five aunts, and eight uncles.
