ELGIN - Lucile Knupper, 89, of Elgin, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, in the Apostolic Christian Resthaven in Elgin.
She was born July 27, 1914, in Mason City, Iowa, to Charles and Gertrude (Tietz) Fischer.
She and her husband, Richard, owned and operated the Knupper Nursery and Garden Center of Palatine from 1934 until she sold it in 1989.
She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
Survivors include three children, Margaret (David) Thiessen of Woodstock, Anita (William) Hughey of Oxford, Ark., and Barbara Knupper of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Kathryn (David) Bond of Cary and Michael Lambert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1968; her grandparents, Katie and Casper Bruschinsky, who raised her; and her mother-in-law, Minna Knupper.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. The visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service Wednesday, May 5, at Apostolic Christian Church, 2750 W. Highland Ave., Elgin.
Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin.
Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Resthaven or the church.
