Mrs Everett Dougherty rites Monday
12-29-1962Mrs. Everett (Mayme) Dougherty, 66, retired Rockwell school teacher, died suddenly early Saturday morning at a Mason City hospital. She had lived in Mason City many years and made her home at 721 Washington NW.
Mrs. Dougherty was born Feb. 7, 1896, at Placid, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (O'Connor) Hall. She was graduated from Epworth High School and attended Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls.
She taught school at Farley, East Dubuque, Mason City and Rockwell, retiring in 1959. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, St. John's Unit of the Holy Family Guild and the C.D. of A.
She was married to Everett Dougherty Jan. 2, 1936, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Farley.
Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mary Ellen Dougherty, Minneapolis, and Sister Mary Sheila Ann, P.B.V.M., at Monona; two brothers, Raymond Hall, Dyersville, and Robert Hall, Farley.
Four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Berdette) McPoland, Dubuque; Mrs. John (Bernice) Daly and Mrs. Joseph (Lorraine) Donnelly, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. LeRoy (Eileen) Oswald, Dubuque, also survive.
Visitation at the Hogan-McKee Colonial Chapel was scheduled from noon Sunday until the time of services. St. John's Unit Rosary was scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday; parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and the C.D. of A. rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
Requiem high Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. A.J. Breen will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Dougherty.
