Funeral services for Florence Mary Cruse, 95, Mechanicsville, were held May 26, 1988, at St. Mary's Catholic church, with the Rev. D. L. Waldschmidt officiating. Pallbearers were Joseph Gamble, Willard More, Sr., John Sauer, John Scott, Robert Studer and Forest Johnson. Honorary bearers were Everett Ferguson, Richard Ferguson, David Ferguson, Lee Scott, Louis Gamble and Hugh Lamont. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Cruse died May 22 at the Mechanicville Care Center.
The daughter of James and Margaret Sheehan Farrell, she was born Aug. 19, 1892 in La Crescent, Minn. She attended La Crosse State Normal college in La Crosse, Wis. and taught first grade in Stanwood.
She married Andrew C. Cruse Dec. 1, 1922 in Mechanicsville, where he practiced dentistry until his death in 1959.
Mrs. Cruse was a homemaker and was active in her community until her health declined. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Garden Club, St. Mary's Guild and the Senior Citizens.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Margaret Bowler, Galesburg, Ill. and Mary Casterline, Tipton; 2 sons, R. James Cruse, Mechanicsville and Richard Cruse, Fresno, Calif.; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
