SHUCK
Mrs. Mary Cessford Shuck, was born in Utica, New York, Aug. 22, 1853, and died at her home in Clarence, Thursday, Dec. 2, 1926, of pneumonia, aged 73 years, three months and ten days..
Her family came to Tipton in 1855, and from this place located on a farm six miles south of Clarence. Here she resided with her parents until the fall of 1881, when she was united in marriage to Samuel Shuck. For nine years they lived on a farm they bought three miles northwest of Clarence, now owned by John Budelier. From this farm they moved to Clarence, making this place their home with the exception of four years spent on the Shuck home farm southwest of town.
To them was born one child, a daughter, now Mrs. Wayne Claney.
Mr. and Mrs. Shuck were members of the Clarence Lutheran church until its dissolution, when they united by letter with the M. E. church of this city. Mrs. Shuck was a faithful member of the church, performing every duty assigned her cheerfully and willingly. She was always ready to help in time of sickness. She was possessed of a happy. genial disposition and was a friend to old and young. The sorrow of others affected her deeply, and to those who knew her best she was a true and faithful friend. The people of Clarence will miss her, the church will miss her, but most of all the dear ones of the immediate family will miss her — the sister, the brothers and the grandchildren whom she loved so well.
There are left to mourn her departure her husband and daughter, Mrs. Wayne Claney. and children, Ruth, Warren, Jean and Marian Claney; one sister, Mrs. M. Siple of McIntire, Iowa, and five brothers, James Cessford of Tipton, John Cessford and Robert Cessford of Marion, George Cessford of Tacoma, Wash.,and Fred Cessford of Iowa Falls. Of these surviving close relatives all attended the funeral except her two brothers, George and James, the latter being unable to attend on account of illness.
Mrs. Shuck was one of three sisters, Mrs. Will Long of Tipton having died in 1908.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church on Sunday afternoon being conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. J. Macaulay, and was attended by a large, number from the community which has known and respected her for so many years. Beautiful flowers of abundance went with her to her grave in the Clarence cemetery..
The pallbearers were: John Cessford, George Wise, Grant Shuck, Clarence Crock, Wayne Claney and Chas. Smith, the latter taking Charles Sisler’s place when he and his mother, Mrs. Sadie Sisler, were unable to come at the last minute..

Card of Thanks.—To those kind neighbors and friends, who by their comforting words and other acts of helpfulness in our time of bereavement, and for the beautiful flowers, we tender our sincere thanks. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
