21 October 1987 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for George Bierkamp, 75, were held at Durant Oct. 21 with the Rev. David Lawson officiating. Burial was in the Durant cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Bower, James Knudsen, Roger Grunder, Henry Hagge, Edward Braet and Harris Schneekloth.

Mr. Bierkamp died at the Davenport Medical center Oct. 18.

The son of August and Minnie Schnoor Bierkamp, he was born at Sunbury Aug. 15, 1912. He married Frances Wittman Novak at Kirksville, Mo. April 26, 1942. In 1977 he retired as yard foreman and truck driver at the C.T. Schacht Lumber Co., which later became Grunder & Sons.

He was a past member of the Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by his wife; 4 sons, Richard Novak, Slater; Frank Novak, Davenport, Ronald Bierkamp, Durant and Robert Bierkamp, Creston; 3 daughters, Mrs. Marion (Patricia) Munn, Kirksville, Mo.; Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Willis, Davenport and Mrs. Doug (Bonnie) Redfield, Pasco, Wash.; 18 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Clara Ramsdell, Rock Island, Ill. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and 2 great-grandchildren.
