Funeral services for Gertrude Jeffers Phillips, 97, were held June 1, 1987 at the Federated church, Lisbon, with the Rev. Duane Lacock officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Mrs. Phillips died May 29 at the Hallmark Care Center in Mt. Vernon, following a lingering illness.

She was born Oct. 27, 1889 in rural Tipton and married Vernon Phillips Dec. 26, 1916 in Tipton. He died in 1955.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Federated church in Lisbon.

She is survived by a son, Carroll, Lisbon; a sister, Lulu Werling, Davenport; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
