Last rites for Ernest Herman Wendt, 85, were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Stanwood, April 30 with the Rev. Maruice Lind officiating. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Bell, Leroy and Steven Wendt, Dale Wenndt, Robert Klinkkammer and Melvin Klein. Mrs. Melvin Wiebel was organist and Marie Kohrt and the Rev. Lind sang.

Mr. Wendt died at his home in Stanwood April 27.

The son of Louis H. and Caroline Rixe Wendt, he was born near Clarence Oct. 28, 1899. He was married to Lillian Neese at Tulane, S.D. Sept. 17, 1924.

A retired farmer, he lived most of his life in the Stanwood area.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert, Stanwood; 2 daughters, Mrs. Harland (Ruth) Fall, Marion and Mrs. Ralph (Lucile) Kessler, Dubuque; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and 2 sisters, Mrs. Charles (Alma) Boedeker and Mrs. Marvin (Esther) McCroskey, Tipton.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence Kratoska, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
