Funeral services for Herbert P. Walter, 88, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home April 25 with the Rev. Ron Lashmit officiating. Burial was in Inland cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith Johnson, William Boll, Glen Rife, Francis Lang, Todd Swick and Laverne Doermann. Patty Niehaus was organist.

Mr. Walter died at Cedar Manor April 22.

The son of James H. and Zora Lincoln Walter, he was born near Bennett March 2, 1897 and attended the rural schools. He was married to Edith P. Karns in Tipton Sept. 29, 1921. A lifetime resident of Cedar county, he farmed for 11 years and was an upholsterer for 28 years.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Duayne, Bennett; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, 2 infant daughters, 2 sisters and a brother.
