Funeral services for Mrs. Edwin H. (Isabel M.) Busching, 83, were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Stanwood, April 20 with the Rev. Maurice Lind officiating. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Linder, Gilbert Sander, Gerald Inman, William Tenley, James Brendes and Gary Ahrens.

Mrs. Busching died at the Clarence Nursing home April 17.

The daughter of James J. and Jessie Reep Ryan, she was born in LeClaire July 5, 1900. The family moved to Morse, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1908 where they homesteaded. The family moved back to Iowa for Christmas, 1916.

She graduated from LeClaire high school and attended Cornell college during the summer of 1918 in preparation for the examination for a teacher's certificate. She continued her education during the summer, including another summer at Cornell and received her BA degree from Iowa State Teachers college in 1929.

She taught rural school in Scott county and in consolidated schools in Scott, Greene and Emmett counties.

She was married to Edwin H. Busching of Olin Aug. 25, 1938. They lived on the Busching family farm until 1948 when they moved to Stanwood. They traveled to Europe, Canada, Mexico and throughout the United States. He died in 1976. In recent years she had been to Hawaii and Europe.

She was active in civic affairs as a 4-H leader, a member and president of the library board, the AAUW and Women's club. She was a member of the Lutheran church, its choir, was a Sunday school teacher and a Loyal Worker.

She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Hansen, Elkhart, Ind.; 3 grandchildren, Scott, Marcee and Todd Hansen and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister and a brother.
