Last rites for Elmer Dale Franklin Gleason, 57, were held at United Presbyterian church, Mechanicsville, March 17 with the Rev. Allen Bond, Marion, officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Davidson, Darrell Reid, David Ferguson, Marlyn and James Cruse and John Sauer. Mrs. Calvin Robinson was organist.

Mr. Gleason died at Americana Health Care Center, Cedar Rapids, March 15.

The son of Oscar Franklin and Dorothy Stoneking Gleason, he was born in Cedar county June 11, 1926. He graduated from the Mechanicsville Consolidated school in 1944.

He entered military service Sept. 5, 1944 and served in the army for 2 years and was discharged as a staff sergeant Aug. 1, 1946 after serving in the European Theater of Operation.

His most recent occupation was as a salesman of home improvements.

He is survived by his father, Frank, Bainbridge, IN; a son, Robert, Claremore, OK; a daughter, Cathy Gleason, Ottumwa; 2 brothers, Frank, Houston, TX and Paul, Longwood, FL; 5 sisters, Phyllis Fay, Cedar Rapids; Jean Weno, Solon; Joan Smith, Douglasville, GA; Connie Mitchell, Mooresville, IN and Linda Bryant, Taylor, SC; 4 granddaughters and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother.
