Funeral services for Hunnas First, 62, will be held at 11 a.m. today (March 21) at the Lacock Funeral Home, Durant, with the Rev. L. Jack Ehlers officiating. Burial will be in the Durant cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Durant Fire department of the Durant American Legion.

Mr. First died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, March 18.

The son of Fred and Susie First, he was born at Ulen, MN Oct. 13, 1921. He was married to Darlene Giesel in Ocheyedan May 28, 1942. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the Army Air Corps.

At the time of his death Mr. First was a salesman for Moorman Feed. Prior to that he had been a partner and operator of the Durant/Wilton Motors, Inc. for 17 years.

He served with the Durant Fire department for 25 years 13 years as chief. He was a member of the American Legion at Durant and the Tipton Moose lodge.

He is survived by his wife, a son, David, Edwards, MO; 2 daughters, Nancy Stevens and Angela First, both of Durant; 5 granddaughters; 2 brothers, John, Detroit Lakes, MN and Henry, Durant and 3 sisters, Mrs. Albin (Elizabeth) Svenby and Mrs. Sophie Paggen, both of Detroit Lakes, MN and Mrs. Mary McCollum of Bejou, MN. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
