Funeral services for Glendon H. (Glen) Mosher, 69, retired Tipton businessman, were held at First United Church of Christ Feb. 16 with the Rev. Dale Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Bryce Werling, John Krob, Bill Stiff, Walter Graham, George Tevis and Wayne Deerberg. Betty Vitense was organist and Brian Vaubel was vocalist. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hartog and Mrs. Elmer Brendes were in charge of flowers. Full military honors at the cemetery were by the American Legion and VFW.

Mr. Mosher died at his home in Tipton Feb. 13.

The son of Elmer and Alena Hinchcliffe Mosher, he was born in Riceville Sept. 16, 1914. He graduated from Riceville high school. He was employed by Waterloo Laundry as its Northeast Iowa territory manager before coming to Tipton where he purchased Modern Cleaners from Pete Barnes, taking possession July 1, 1939.

He was married to Lois Winfred Short at Council Bluffs Aug. 15, 1939.

He entered military service Feb. 4, 1943 and served overseas for 9 months with M company of the 345th Infantry Regiment of the 87th Division. Shortly after arriving in France in October, 1944, he was ill with double pneumonia. He later saw action in the Ardennes-Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns as part of the 3rd army drive into Germany. He was a motor sergeant with a heavy weapons company.

He returned to Tipton in July, 1945 and reopened Modern Cleaners. He built the building on East 5th street now known as the Mosher building.

In 1945 after selling the cleaning shop, he and George Tevis entered into a partnership and established T&M Clothing in the building formerly occupied by the Randa Brothers grocery. They operated the business for 20 years, selling the clothing store to George Hein in 1973. He then operated a rug cleaning business.

Mr. Mosher served as a trustee of First Presbyterian church before its merger with First United Church of Christ, where he was a member. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the 87th Infantry Division association and the Tipton Golf and Country club.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Robert, West Liberty; a daughter, Patricia Jefferson, Missoula, MT and 2 sisters, Mrs. Nina Bodenham, Ft. Collins, CO and Mrs. Maxine Tritchier, Milwaukee, WI and an aunt, Mrs. Aletha Crossman, Riceville. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer society for lung cancer research.
