Funeral services for John L. Stuehm, 79, retired Bennett area farmer, were held at Peace Church of Christ United, Bennett, Feb. 11 with the Rev. Elmer Baker officiating. Burial was in Inland cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard and Ralph Stuhr, Everett and Otto Schnack, Paul Hermiston, Warren Rixe and Robert Butterbrodt. Shirley Von Muenster was vocalist and Ruth Riedesel organist.

Mr. Stuehm died at University hospital, Iowa City, Feb. 8.

The son of Ludwig and Alvena Boyens Stuehm, he was born near Bennett Aug. 19, 1904. He was educated in the rural schools of the area. He was married to Velma Butterbrodt at Clarence March 26, 1930. She died in 1978.

A retired farmer, he spent his life in the Bennett area. He was a member of Peace Church of Christ United at Bennett.

Mr. Stuehm is survived by a son, Don, Fargo, ND; a daughter, Shirleen Brackevelt, East Moline, IL; a sister, Amanda Hinrichs, Bennett and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 sisters and a brother.
