Funeral services for Robert R. Murphy, rural West Branch, will be held at 9 a.m. today (Feb. 15) at St. Patrick's Catholic church, West Branch, with the Rev. Eugene Benda officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Mr. Murphy died of an apparent heart attack at his winter home in Mission, TX Feb. 11.

The son of Raymond and Helen Campion Murphy, he was born in West Branch Dec. 17, 1927. He was married to Esther Marie Hemingway at St. Patrick's church, Iowa City, Sept. 5, 1949.

He retired from farming 2 years ago. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic church, Iowa City and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Union Livestock company, Joliet, IL and Valley View Estates, Mission, TX.

He was also chairman of the Johnson County Board of Adjustment, past president of the Johnson County National Farmers Organization and a member of the Iowa City Do-si-do Square Dance club.

He is survived by his wife; 4 sons, Dennis, Cedar Rapids and Donald, Ronald and Michael, all of West Branch; 3 daughters, Mary Means and Teresa Shay, both of Iowa City and Patricia Seydel, Tiffin; a brother, Richard, rural Iowa City and 11 grandchildren.
