Funeral services for Robert William Boots, 59, were held at the United Methodist church, Mechanicsville, Feb. 20, with the Rev. Donald Wooge officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville. Military services were by the American Legion Post at Mechanicsville.

Pallbearers were Louis Mertka, Dale Cook, Donald Weber, Clifford Dickey, Leonard Carter and John Koppenhaver. Mrs. Calvin Robinson was organist. The Horner funeral home was in charge of the service.

Mr. Boots died at Veterans hospital, Iowa City, Feb. 17, following a long illness.

The son of Clarence and Rose Ellen Hayner Boots, he was born at Mechanicsville Feb. 4, 1917 and received his education in the Mechanicsville school. He was married to Florence Bunge at Monticello, Mo. June 10, 1941.

He spent his entire life in the Mechanicsville area and was a construction worker.

He served in the army from Dec. 14, 1942 to March 18, 1946. He was a member of the United Methodist church, the American Legion and a retired member of the Mechanicsville fire department.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Robert J., Mechanicsville; a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Ellen) Herring, Clarence; 3 brothers, Wilbur, Rock Island, Ill.; Don, Mechanicsville and Ronald, Central City; 2 sisters, Mrs. Lois Dodge, Mechanicsville and Mrs. Frances Joslin, Central City; 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother.
