William Preston, who recently moved from Springdale to Tipton, died at Veterans hospital, Feb. 23, following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Bernadette's church in West Branch with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery at Cedar Valley.

The son of George and Lizzie McGeen Preston, he was born in Cedar county, March 2, 1893, and was a farmer for many years, later working at Veterans hospital.

He was a veteran of World War I, a life member of the West Branch American Legion and a member of St. Bernadette's church.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Theresa Bujewski, Muscatine and 5 nieces and a nephew. Two brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
