Funeral services for John Fobian, 81, former West Branch resident, were held at Bethany Lutheran church, West Branch, Dec. 12 with the Rev. Ervin Hesterberg officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Fobian died at his home in Iowa City, Dec. 9, following a heart attack.

The son of Carl and Anna Marie Jessen Fobian, he was born at Nidlose, Denmark, Feb. 25, 1894 and came to the United States in 1913.

He was married to Anne M. Petersen at Kragelund, Denmark, Jan. 5, 1927.

He was a bricklayer and farmer in the Iowa City and West Branch areas until his retirement.

Mr. Fobian is survived by his wife, 2 sons, John, Iowa City and Carl, West Branch; 2 daughters, Mrs. Donald (June) Poland, Scarsdale, N.Y. and Mrs. Gerald (Mary) Meade, West Liberty, 16 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Charles and Christian and 2 sisters, Johanne and Elizabeth.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers.
