Last rites for Mrs. Emma Steffen, 84, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Aug. 26 with the Rev. Dale Marshall officiating.

Le Roy Steffen, Ray Harmsen, Wilhelm Overson, Peter and Norman Erikson and Elmer Jepsen were pallbearers. Mrs. Arnold Swan was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Crock and Mrs. Elmer Jepsen were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Steffen died at the Americana care center Aug. 23 following a brief illness.

The daughter of Peter and Augusta Wulf Eriksen, she was born at Durant March 28, 1891 and was educated in the rural Muscatine county schools. She was married to Hugo O. Steffen at Davenport in 1915.

A Tipton resident for 40 years she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Tipton, of which she was a Gold Star mother.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Cleo) Schmidt, and Mrs. Stanley (Emogene) Jandik, both of Cedar Rapids; 2 sons, Earl and Elwood, both of Tipton; 10 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren, a sister, Ida Eriksen, Davenport; a brother, James Eriksen, Tacoma, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.
