14 August 1975 - The Tipton Conservative

Steven Paul Seligman, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman L. Seligman, Bennett, died instantly when his car went off county road F31, 3 miles southwest of Bennett, about 6:45 p.m. Aug. 6. Death was due to a massive skull fracture.

Seligman was driving north when his car veered to the left. As he pulled it back to the right he apparently lost control and the car went off the road, flipped over, landing on its top and then came back on its wheels in a soybean field south of the Kenneth Jordan farm residence.

The first persons on the scene saw Seligman in the car. They went for help. After they left the car burst into flames. The car was completely destroyed.

Seligman had received his driver's license the day of the accident, his 16th birthday.

Funeral services for Steven Paul Seligman, 16, were held at Peace Church of Christ United, Aug. 8, with the Rev. Dennis Lamont officiating. Burial was in Inland cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dale Hetzler, Craig Rekemeyer, Terry Yutesler, Keith Seligman, Curt Pahl and Lloyd Wylie. Kathy Siebel was vocalist and Beth Baur organist.

The son of Norman L. and Marilyn M. Dettman Seligman, he was born at Davenport, Aug. 6, 1959. He moved with his family to the Bennett area in 1965. He would have been a junior in Bennett high school this fall.

He is survived by his parents, 2 sisters, Judy and Paula, and a brother, Ned, all at home; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Dettman, Davenport and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Marcelle Seligman, New Liberty. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers.
