Funeral services for Edward J. Vitense, 77, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Aug. 4 with the Rev. I. F. Hayenga officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bob Agne, Walter Eilers, Clarence Schmidt, Earl Anderson, Lloyd Thien and Austin Ford.

Mr. Vitense died at Cedar Manor Aug. 1 following a brief illness.

The son of Henry J. and Louise Goldsmith Vitense, he was born near Tipton Sept. 13, 1897 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county. He was a retired farmer, living in the Tipton area all of his life. He had been a resident of Cedar Manor for 6 years.

He is survived by 2 brothers, William and Raymond, both of Tipton and 2 nieces and a nephew.
