Funeral services for Mrs. Edo (Luella) Thien, 78, were held at First United Church of Christ, July 29, with the Rev. Dale Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Harold Schnack, Marvin Evers, Dwight Dean, Elmer Peters, Laurence Conrad and John Stuehm were pallbearers. Schelly Hack was vocalist and Mrs. Arnold Swan organist. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mente and Mrs. Donald Armstrong Jr. were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Thien died at her home in Tipton, July 26, following a long illness.

The daughter of Henry and Lena Hillman Butterbrodt, she was born near Tipton, March 11, 1897, and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county.

She was married to Edo Thien at Bennett, Jan. 31, 1918. The couple spent their married life in the Tipton area.

She was a member of First United Church of Christ, the Mary circle of the church and Tipton Federated Garden club.

She is survived by her husband, 2 daughters, Mrs. Elnora Suchomel, Tipton and Mrs. Laurence (Marian) Techau, Manchester; a son, Melvin, Tipton; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mrs. William (Martha) Vitense and Mrs. Anna Stakey, Tipton.
