Paul B. Clover, a native of Tipton, died at Marion General hospital, San Rafael, Calif., July 7. He had been hospitalized several times since Christmas. Private services were held.

Clover was a transportation engineer with the California Public Utilities commission, living at Greenbrae, Calif., at the time of his death.

A graduate of Tipton high school in 1926 and the University of Iowa college of engineering, he had worked as director of research for American President Lines and prior to moving to California, did engineering work in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania and Iceland.

At the time of his death Clover was working on the design stages on an aircraft capable of vertical takeoff and landing on which he had received a patent 10 years ago. He envisioned the aircraft as replacing the auto.

Clover is survived by his wife, Melva; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Clover Williams, Novato, Calif.; a son, Paul B. Clover Jr., at home and 4 sisters, Mrs. Richard (Gertrude) Kemp and Mrs. Merle (Elizabeth) Highly, Tipton, Mrs. Margaret Sailor, Lowden and Mrs. Rennie (Ruth) Fiala, Tuscon, Ariz.
