Funeral services for Philip Thomas Ward, 78, were held at St. Mary's church, Mechanicsville April 23 with the Rev. Robert Ferring officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were James and Donald Ward, V. D. Beck, Les Poell, James Cruse and Richard Ferguson. Military services were by Busch-Dennis post of the American Legion.

Mr. Ward died at the Hallmark nursing home, Mt. Vernon April 20.

The son of George and Delphinia Clements Ward, he was born at Clementsville, Ky. July 10, 1896 and received his education in the Clementsville schools.

He was married to Hattie Davison in 1926. She died in 1928. He was married to Martha Cruse at St. Mary's church Sept. 28, 1950.

He farmed in the Mechanicsville area and worked in the beef department of Wilson & Company until he retired in 1963.

He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the navy. He was a charter and life member of the American Legion in Mechanicsville and Barracks 1146 of the veterans of World War I.

He was a member of St. Mary's church.

He is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, 2 sisters and 8 brothers.
