Funeral services for James (Carson) Moffit, 90, were held at the Dye Funeral home, March 24, with the Rev. Dale Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were John, William and Carson Moffit, Eldon Holtz, George Schumaker and George Smith.

Mr. Moffit died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, March 21.

The son of John H. and Mary Carson Moffit, he was born near Tipton, March 30, 1885 and was married to Emma Heiner at Tipton in 1924.

A lifetime resident of Cedar county he had been a resident of Red Oak township since 1900. As a farmer he specialized in Angus cattle, Poland China hogs and Shropshire sheep. He was a member of the Aberdeen Angus association.

He is survived by his wife, Emma, a son, Charles and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister.
