Funeral services for Charles Russell Powers, 86, Vinton, a former Tipton resident, were held at Vinton March 5. Mr. Powers died at a Vinton hospital March 1.

The son of William Wesley and Sara Jan Edwards Powers, he was born in Illinois Nov. 13, `1888 and was married to Mildred Mae Chamberlain Dec. 29, 1914 in Cedar Rapids. He was a former house parent at the Iowa Braille and Sigh Saving school.

He is survived by a son, Wilbur R. (Skeet) Powers, Vinton; 2 sisters, Mrs. John (Emma Jane) Albaugh, Tipton and Mrs. Joe (Honor) LaRue, Ballston Spa, N.Y.; two brothers, Robert Dawson and Olin Ray, Columbus Junction. He was preceded in death by a daughter, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
