Dale Thomson, 60, took his life in the garage at his home in Clarence shortly after noon March 10. Despondency, because of ill health, was responsible for the act according to a note that he left. He died from a single shot from a .410 gauge shotgun.

He had visited a hospital in Cedar Rapids earlier in the day for tests.

The son of Frank Marion and Nellie Edna Robinson Thomson, he was born May 15, 1914. He was wed to Lillian Aaron at Cedar Rapids Nov. 30, 1937.

He farmed a considerable part of his life in the Tipton, Mechanicsville and Clarence areas. He was a member of the Tipton Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Larry, New York City, 3 sisters and 3 brothers: Charle Reid, Hot Springs, Ark.; Don, Mt. Vernon; Jean Griffith, Rogers, Ark.; Merle, Martelle, Francis, Mechanicsville and Lorraine Weber, St. Joseph, Mich.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomson will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Tipton Methodist church.
