Funeral services for Mrs. Gilbert Martens, 71, were held at the Frick funeral home in Durant Dec. 27 with the Rev. L. Jack Ehlers officiating. Burial was in the Memorial park cemetery, Davenport.

Pallbearers were Robert Schlapkohl, William Johannsen, Henry Kroeger, Warren Sissel, Loran Fahrenkrug and Vingene Martens. Mrs. Viva Cook was organist.

Mrs. Martens died at Osteopathic hospital, Davenport, Dec. 24 following an extended illness.

The daughter of Fritz and Dora Lorensen Johannsen, she was born at Bennett March 19, 1903 and spent her life in the Bennett-Durant area. She was married to Gilbert Martens at Davenport Jan. 14, 1925.

She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran church, Durant, and a 50 year member of the Royal Neighbors.

She is survived by her husband, 2 daughters, Delores Martens and Mrs. Vernon (Lois) Wirth, both of Durant; 4 brothers, Herbert, Durant; Edwin, Wilton; Albert, California and Harvey, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Anna Schlapkohl, Durant and 4 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
