Last rites for Earl Achey, 64, Monticello, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home Dec. 7 with the Rev. Donald Kehrli officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

Pallbearers were Floyd Becker, LeRoy Meiers, Malcolm Myers, Claire Foote, Carl Kern and Raymond Mitchell.

Mr. Achey died at a care home in Monticello, Dec. 4, following an extended illness.

The son of Christopher and Christina Vitengle Achey, he was born at Springville July 10, 1910 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county.

He was married to Ada M. Harmon at Stanwood, Aug. 24, 1938. He was a retired farmer, having farmed in the Tipton area for many years. He had been a resident of Cedar Rapids for a year before going to Monticello 2 months ago.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Virgle (Bettie) Van Amburg, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Keith (Karen) Dennis, Clarence; 2 sons, Robert, Cedar Rapids and Richard, with the navy in Connecticut; a sister, Mrs. Grace Wehde, Tipton and 2 brothers, Edward Achey, Tipton and D. L. Achey, Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
