12 December 1974 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Clarence A. Petersen, 83, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home Dec. 11 with the Rev. Fred Vantatenhove officiating. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Pallbearers were Francis, Dewey & Elmer Petersen, Frank Smith, Duane Sharpless and Clarence Heuer.

Mr. Petersen died at Veterans hospital Iowa City, Dec. 8 following an extensive illness.

The son of Frank and Laura Goettsch Petersen, he was born near Wilton, May 5, 1891 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county. He was married to Mabel Mixner at Tipton in 1919.

A retired farmer, he lived in the Lisbon area for 10 years and in Tipton for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion at Tipton and served as a private in the army during 1918-19 in World War I.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. Edward (Elsie) Parizeck, Davenport and Mrs. Vera Sharpless, West Liberty; a brother, Harry, Lisbon and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
