October 3, 1974 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma E. Simmermaker, 84, will be held at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Simmermaker died at her home early Oct. 2.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Merle (Arlene) Gedge, Santa Barbara, Calif. and Mrs. John (Dorothy) Conrad, Oroville, Calif. and 2 sons, Kenneth, Tipton and Robert, Oroville, Calif.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma E. Simmermaker, 83, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home Oct. 5 with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Junior and Leonard Bromell, Robert Friday, Carl Ehresman, James Cary and Kenneth Kuehl. Mrs. Arnold Swan was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Regenitter were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Simmermaker died at her home south of Tipton Oct. 2, following a brief illness.

The daughter of Joseph H. and Elzabeth Bruhn Friday, she was born in Hamburg, Germany Nov. 13, 1890 and came to the United States as a small child. She was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county. She was married to William S. Simmermaker at Marion, June 19, 1912.

She had been a resident of the Tipton area for 80 years.

Mrs. Simmermaker is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Merle (Arlene) Gedye, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. John (Dorothy) Conrad, Oroville, Calif.; 2 sons, Kenneth, Tipton and Robert, Oroville, Calif.; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Rose Brommell, Tipton; Mrs. Martha Northrop, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Ella Clough, Banning, and a brother, Louis Friday, Geneseo, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and a half sister.
