Funeral services for Carl Fred Hillman, 78, Davenport, retired Cedar county farmer, were held at Davenport, Sept. 16 with burial in St. Paul's cemetery, Wheatland. Pallbearers were Robert Beuthien, John Bueller, John Proesch, John Burmeister, Al Schroeder and Walt Struck.

Mr. Hillman died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, Sept. 13, following an extended illness.

He was born in Wheatland and graduated from Wheatland high school and Brown's Business college, Davenport. He served in World War I and was a charter member of the American Legion post in Wheatland. He was also a member of the World I Barracks in Davenport.

He farmed in Cedar county until he retired in 1964.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Delores) Rohlf, Bennett; 2 sons, Paul, Columbus Junction and Louis, Wheatland; 8 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Emma Schneckloth, Davenport and Mrs. Alma Riz, Clarence.
