Funeral services for Otto L. Schluter, 83, prominent Cedar Rapids attorney, were held at the Chapman Funeral home, Clarence, Sept. 16 with Dr. George W. Carlson officiating. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery with military rites at the graveside.

Pallbearers were Terry, Royce, Rodney and Roland Schneider, David Buchanan and Harlan Pruess Jr. Mrs. Robert Hasselbusch was organist.

Mr. Schluter died at the Clarence Nursing home Sept. 13 following a short illness.

The son of Ernest and Caroline Reinking Schluter, he was born on a farm north of Lowden Oct. 30, 1890. He attended Cornell college academy and the University of Iowa, receiving his bachelor of laws degree in 1917.

He served as a first lieutenant in the army in World War I. After leaving service he opened a law practice in Cedar Rapids.

He was a member of the Elks club, the YMCA, the Chamber of Commerce and a 50-year member of the American Legion. He was a member of the American Bar association and a past president of the Linn County Bar association. He was a member of First Lutheran church, Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Schluter is survived by a brother, Edwin G. Schluter, Clarence, 5 nephews and a niece.
