Last rites for Mrs. Elmer (Frances) Maxson, 60, were held at the Springdale Methodist church Sept. 9 with the Rev. Max E. Paige officiating. Burial was in the Springdale cemetery. Mrs. Maxson died at University hospitals, Iowa City, Sept. 7, following a long illness.

The daughter of O. H. and Freida Hebner Howe, she was born in Tipton Sept. 23, 1913 and was married to Elmer Maxson at Rock Island, Ill., March 31, 1932.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and was active in the Springdale and Rochester United Methodist churches.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Judy Pedersen, and a son, Donald, both of West Branch; 2 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Helen Gaul, Tipton; Mrs. Genevieve Herring, Mechanicsville and Mrs. Evelyn Hayslett, West Branch and 2 brothers, Walker and Wilson, Tipton. She was preceded in death by a sister.
