Last rites for Elwood F. Techau were held at the Carson Funeral home in Maquoketa April 13 with the Rev. Howard Buntwing of Andrew officiating. Burial was in St. John's cemetery, Clarence, with full military honors. Pallbearers were Legion members from Clarence.

Mr. Techau died at Veterans hospital, Iowa City, April 11.

Elwood Techau was born near Clarence, Feb. 20, 1916, the son of Charles and Emma Ihns Techau. He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical church and graduated from Clarence high school in 1933. He was married to Ethel Rasmussen.

Mr. Techau served in World War II with the infantry, attached to the sixth army.

Survivors include a son, Larry, Clinton; a daughter, Shirley Fording, of Texas; 6 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Raymond, Grand Mound and Norman, Lisbon, and 2 sisters, Mrs. John (Myrtle) Taylor, Maquoketa and Mrs. John (Irene) Cain, Stanwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
