Last rites for Marvin C. Mallie, 62, were held at St. Mary church March 30 with the Rev. Geroge Snell officiating. Burial was in St. Mary cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charles Driscoll, Leo Miller, Earl Howe, Melvin Thumma, Robert Marchik and Vernon Beckman. His son, Joe, sang "Ave Maria" accompanied by his daughter, Beth. Kathy Wood was organist. The Rosary was held at the church March 29.

Mr. Mallie died at University hospitals, Iowa City, March 26. He had been hospitalized for several weeks, had returned home and then went back to the hospital for an operation. He died of an apparent heart attack while recovering from the operation.

The son of Emil and Ada Proston Mallie, he was born at Lisbon Nov. 20, 1911 and was graduated from the Mt. Vernon schools in 1929. He was married to Stella M. Poposil at Lisbon Feb. 4, 1937.

A resident of the Tipton area for 30 years, Mr. Mallie farmed northwest of Tipton in Red Oak township until 8 years ago when the family moved to Tipton. He had been employed at Cedar Manor.

Mr. Mallie was a member of St. Mary church.

He is survived by his wife, 5 sons, Leo M., Dubuque; David John and Joseph Emil, both of San Francisco, Calif.; Michael Edward with the US army in Zirndorf, Germany and John Thomas, at home; 4 daughters, Mrs. Gene (Ann Marie) Mundt, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Roger (Mildred) Deevers, Davenport; Mary Elizabeth, Hawaii and Elizabeth Ann, Davenport; his mother, Mrs. Ada Mallie, Mt. Vernon and a brother, Lloyd, Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.
